Our Story
Our 12th great-grandfather, Berend Brauer, was the Brewmaster in Einbeck Germany during the early 1500s. It is documented that Martin Luther’s favorite beer was beer from Einbeck. He was so fond of it that he had a cask of it at his wedding, which Berend was gladly able to provide for him.
Martin Luther didn’t just enjoy beer, he was also a home brewer. Legend states that he had a grand stein that had “three rings” around it that he stated stood for the 10 Commandments, the Apostles Creed and Lord’s Prayer. He boasted that he could encompass all three with ease while drinking beer out of his grand, “three ringed” stein. This vision of Martin Luther enjoying our great-grandfathers beer from his three-ringed stein is the basis to our namesake.
